Regulations

The framework that keeps Tanzania's securities market orderly and transparent.

The DSE operates within a layered legal and regulatory framework. Together these instruments protect investors, ensure fair dealing, and maintain confidence in the market.

Capital Markets and Securities Act

The principal statute governing securities markets in Tanzania. It establishes the Capital Markets & Securities Authority (CMSA) and the framework for licensing exchanges, brokers, and other participants.

CMSA regulations & guidelines

Subsidiary regulations, rules, and guidelines issued by the CMSA covering licensing, disclosure, conduct, collective investment schemes, and enforcement.

DSE Rules

The exchange’s own rules — approved by the CMSA — governing listing requirements, trading, membership, clearing, and settlement. These set out the obligations of listed companies and trading members.

Central Depository System (CDS) rules

Rules governing the electronic depository that records ownership of securities and effects settlement on a T+2 basis.
