Legal
Compliance
How we keep the market fair, safe, and lawful.
Regulatory oversight
The DSE is licensed and supervised by the Capital Markets & Securities Authority (CMSA) under the Capital Markets and Securities Act. All market participants — including brokers and issuers — operate under rules approved by the CMSA.
Know Your Customer (KYC)
Before you can trade, we verify your identity using your National Identification (NIDA) details and other required information. KYC protects you and the market against fraud and impersonation and is a legal requirement.
Anti-Money-Laundering (AML)
We comply with Tanzania’s anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing laws. We monitor for suspicious activity, may request the source of funds, and are obliged to report certain transactions to the relevant authorities.
Market conduct
Insider trading, market manipulation, and other forms of market abuse are prohibited and subject to enforcement by the DSE and the CMSA. Trade only on publicly available information and through your licensed broker.
Investor protection
A fidelity fund contribution is charged on transactions to support investor compensation arrangements. Client securities are held in your own CDS account, separate from broker assets.
Reporting concerns
If you suspect misconduct, fraud, or a breach of the rules, contact DSE support at helpdesk@dse.co.tz. Genuine reports are treated confidentially.
